10 Tips for Surviving as the Imposter in Imposter Drawing

Being the Imposter is the hardest role in Imposter Drawing. You don't know the word, the display shows "Imposter" instead, and you have to draw something convincing based only on what the other players draw. Here's how to survive.

1. Watch Before You Draw In the first round, don't rush. Let other players go before you if possible and study their drawings carefully.

2. Draw Abstract Shapes Vague lines and shapes are harder to call out than a confident wrong guess. Abstract art is your friend.

3. Match the Style, Not the Subject Copy the general style and energy of the other drawings rather than trying to guess the specific subject.

4. Don't Copy Too Closely If you draw exactly what someone else drew, experienced players will notice. Add your own variation.

5. Use Your Ink Wisely You have limited ink per turn. A few confident strokes look more intentional than frantic scribbling.

6. Stay Calm During the Vote When the vote happens, don't panic. Vote for someone else confidently — hesitation gives you away.

7. Pick the Most Suspicious Player Vote for whoever the other players seem most uncertain about, not randomly.

8. Blend In Early Your first drawing sets the tone. If it's clearly wrong, no amount of recovery will help.

9. Pay Attention to Word Categories The word is usually a common object, animal, or place. Use context clues from the drawings.

10. Accept That You Might Lose Sometimes the other players are just too good. The Imposter role is hard — winning it feels great.
