Crack The Code: The Complete Strategy Guide

Crack The Code is inspired by the classic Mastermind puzzle. The goal is to guess your opponent's secret digit code using colour-coded feedback. Green means right digit, right position. Orange means right digit, wrong position. Red means wrong digit entirely.

Your Opening Guess

Your first guess should cover as many different digits as possible. For a 4-digit code, try 1234 or 0123. This gives you immediate information about which digits are in the code and which aren't.

Reading the Feedback

After your first guess, sort your results: - All red → none of those digits are in the code. Eliminate them entirely. - Any green → lock that digit in that position. - Any orange → that digit is in the code but needs to move.

Choosing Your Secret Code

Avoid patterns like 1111, 1234, or 0000 — these are the first things opponents try. Pick a code with no repeated digits and avoid sequential numbers. Something like 7293 or 4816 is harder to crack than 1234.

Code Length Strategy

A 3-digit code has 1000 combinations. A 5-digit code has 100,000. If you want a longer game with more strategy, pick 5 digits. If you want a fast intense match, go with 3.
